Introduction
Twenty-two LFH students set off to their 11-day learning journey in Cairns, Australia last summer. Apart from attending an intensive 4-hour English course every morning, students explored famous attractions, nature parks and rainforests which included Green Island, Botanic Garden, Mossman Gorge, Hartley’s Crocodile Park, etc. in the afternoons. Through these guided excursions, students were impressed by the devotion of Australians to conservation and learnt more about the close ties between human and nature. The whole journey would not be complete without the interaction with host families, living with host families allowed students to understand the rhythms, the habits and the culture of the locals.
